Rotary Club of New Bedford, MA - Weekly GAM

GAM...A nautical term describing the exchange of news between vessels departing from and returning to their ports...

February 21, 20187

The Last Time We Met (Formerly “This Week”)

What a great club assembly!! Looking at the restaurant situation for RotaFest, the entire team jumped in to help.  Marc read the list of restaurants from last week’s GAM as members agreed to contact them.  Some members even agreed to contact 4 or 5.  What a great group of people the Rotary Club of New Bedford is.  We even had a new restaurant confirmed within 24 hours of the meeting.  Thanks you Jerry for reaching out and securing Cleary’s Pub.  Don’t forget, we need to submit the names by 2/28 to print the poster (as decided by the members).   Restaurants not listed on the poster can still participate.

Rotary Minute:  Clicked away this week a.k.a. there wasn’t one.  What would you like to learn about Rotary in a minute?  Let us know.

PRESIDENT’S VALENTINE’S ALUMNI MEMBERSHIP CHALLENGE:  The new challenge has not been announced so you still have time to complete this one.   The only member that admitted to completing is so far was John R. for inviting Linda Morad, (though I hear Carl spoke to her too (and some others spoke to her as well?)).

VISITORS AND GUESTS:  Just us!!

Would any of your Rotary Clubs have local/international Peace & Conflict Resolution/Transformation projects planned for Rotary Year 2018/19? We would love to have members sponsoring them join the District Peace & Conflict Resolution/Transformation Committee for Rotary year 2018/2019.  We are looking to assemble a strong District team that may include outside professionals in the field, ready to facilitate for our clubs.

One More Thing – An Orren Classic

A vain clergyman asked an old man how he had enjoyed his sermon. "I like one passage at the end very much," said the old man. "Which was that?" asked the clergyman. "The one from the pulpit to the vestry," said the old man.
