Rotary Club of New Bedford, MA - Weekly GAM

GAM...A nautical term describing the exchange of news between vessels departing from and returning to their ports...

December 7, 2015

This Week

We were back at The Wamsutta Club this week for our annual Christmas Party.  We had a great turn out and lots of guests this week.  President Linda welcomed all and thanked all who participated with the Breakfast with Santa.  Breakfast with Santa was held November 29th and was a great success.  We had 125 people including everyone who had volunteered.  Marc Shpritzer delivered the extra food to Mercy Meals which they were very happy to have received our donation.  Also, a big thank you to Peter Ashworth’s dad who played Santa but I think he is the real Santa.  I am a true believer now.  He is the real deal.  Congratulations to Shaun Morales who was inducted this week as our newest Rotarian.  He is already broken in with harassing Carole Johnson.  We really didn’t need to train him he just observed and knew what to do

VISITORS AND GUESTS: Sally Wheeler, Dr. Sental Kumar – Rotary Club of India, Ivan Brito – Rotary Club of Fairhaven, Alice Rebelo – Rotary Club of Fairhaven, M.K. – Rotary Club of Fairhaven President, Dr. Cyndi Marland – Rotary Club of Dartmouth, President,  Dr. Ellie Marland – Rotary Club of Dartmouth past President and Board member

Upcoming events:

December 16th – This week’s meeting will be held at The Wamsutta Club.  We will be wrapping gifts for the Bridge House children and will be delivering gifts with Santa.

December 23rd - There will be no meeting this week

December 30th – There will be no meeting this week

January 6th - This week’s meeting will be held at The Wamsutta Club and we will be doing our Yankee Swap.  The gifts are usually appx. $10.00 value and will give you the opportunity to re-gift anything you really do not want.  It should be lots of fun and laughs.

Next Week

December 9th – This week’s meeting will be held at The Salvation Army located at 619 Purchase St, New Bedford, Ma.  This is our annual stacking of the toys for the Salvation Army.  Pizza, soft drinks and desserts will be provided.  This is a Million Dollar Meal which means even if you are unable to attend you do still need to pay.  On the positive note if you are unable to attend this does count as attendance.

One More Thing

Anyone who believes that men are equal to women has never seen a man trying to wrap a Christmas present!!
